Recap and Insights |
Spring: What’s Blossoming – This Month’s ThemeIn the spirit of spring and new beginnings, we invited attendees to share what’s “blossoming” in their lives and businesses. The responses were inspiring and full of momentum. Many members spoke about new ventures, fresh ideas, growing connections, and personal breakthroughs, while others highlighted opportunities that are beginning to take shape after months of hard work. It was a powerful reminder that growth looks different for everyone, and that even the smallest steps forward can lead to meaningful progress. Together, we celebrated the energy of the season and the continued evolution of our community. Workshop Series UpdateOur Cape Women in Business Workshop Series, facilitated by Kai Childs, has been an incredibly engaging and impactful experience for our community. Each session continues to offer practical tools, meaningful insight, and space for growth as we explore both personal and professional development. Our most recent workshop, Cultivate Your Heroic Secret Identity, focused on overcoming imposter syndrome and learning how to reframe those internal narratives so we can step fully into our strengths and thrive with confidence. We are now looking forward to our final session in the series, Presentation Skills, taking place on April 27 from 10:00–12:00 at CapeSpace in Hyannis. This final workshop will help participants strengthen their presence, refine their communication skills, and build confidence when speaking in any professional setting. This series has been a powerful journey, and we are grateful to Kai Childs for guiding such an inspiring and transformative experience. Trail Talk UpdateWe had a wonderful turnout for our walk last month, and it was a beautiful reminder of how powerful it is to gather outdoors and reconnect with nature. After a long winter, there’s something energizing about feeling the buzz of Cape Cod coming back to life, the sights, sounds, and fresh air all working together to restore the mind, body, and soul. We’re so grateful for the community being built through these meaningful in-person connections. We’re especially excited for our next Trail Talk on May 1st, where we’ll come together to experience the Flower Moon and take in another peaceful Cape Cod evening outdoors. There’s a special kind of anticipation as the season shifts and nature continues to wake up around us. Additional walks are currently being planned, so be sure to visit our events page to stay up to date on all the unique opportunities ahead. We appreciate the efforts of Riina Chaplow of Healing is Allowed and Jacquie Hicks of I Love Them Like You Do for their continued leadership in bringing these gatherings to life. We’re also excited to share that Pallas Hutchinson of Oasis Massage is joining the Trail Talks committee. With this growing team, we look forward to creating even more intentional ways for members to connect with nature, with each other, and with themselves, so keep an eye on our events page for what’s coming next. Guest Speakers SpotlightWe were grateful to welcome representatives from MassAbility, Amanda Dana, Amanda D’Alessio, and Nicholi McLaughlin, who joined us to share valuable insights into their Career Services and Business Relations programs, and the many ways they support both job seekers and employers across Cape Cod. During their presentation, Amanda and Amanda highlighted the wide range of individualized support services available to job seekers with disabilities, including resume development, mock interviews, training and education support, job coaching, and job placement assistance. They shared that MassAbility works with hundreds of clients, helping individuals secure both seasonal and long-term employment opportunities, with services provided at no cost. Nicoli outlined several meaningful benefits for employers, including on-the-job training programs, disability awareness training, hiring events, and opportunities to participate in employer advisory boards. They also discussed the Disability Employment Tax Credit, emphasizing how businesses can benefit financially while connecting with a diverse and highly capable talent pool. The conversation also helped address common misconceptions about disability employment services, reinforcing that MassAbility supports individuals across a broad spectrum of visible and non-visible disabilities, with the goal of creating inclusive and accessible employment opportunities for all. We are especially grateful for their commitment to strengthening workforce connections on Cape Cod and for sharing information about their upcoming hiring event on June 2nd at Bridgewater State University. We truly appreciate Amanda, Amanda, and Nicoli’s time, expertise, and dedication to empowering both job seekers and the business community.
