There is something special about having the opportunity to talk about a community you care deeply about, especially when the conversation goes beyond what an organization does and gets to the heart of why it exists in the first place.
Today, Cape Women in Business President Jenn Brann joined Stephanie Viva on Stephanie in the Morning on Lemonadio for a conversation about women in business, the importance of connection, and the growing community behind Cape Women in Business.
It was also an exciting time to have this conversation, as CWB recently reached an important milestone: becoming a designated 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization.
More Than Networking
One of the things that came through in the conversation is that Cape Women in Business was never intended to be simply another networking organization.
CWB was created to provide women with opportunities to build meaningful relationships, learn from one another, find support, and feel like they have a place in the local business community.
Our mission says it best:
Cape Women in Business connects female entrepreneurs and leaders across and beyond Cape Cod through intentional networking, mentorship, and support - because we grow further when we grow together.
That idea of growing together is at the center of everything we do.
Whether it is a monthly Biz Bites gathering, a Coffee Connect, a Round Table discussion, an educational workshop, or simply a conversation between two women who may not have otherwise crossed paths, the goal is to create opportunities for connection that can continue long after an event ends.
Building Something That Belongs to the Community
As Jenn shared during the interview, one of the most rewarding parts of leading CWB has been watching the organization evolve through the contributions of so many people.
CWB is volunteer-led, and its growth has been shaped by women who have stepped forward to share their knowledge, open doors, introduce connections, volunteer their time, host events, speak at programs, serve on committees, and simply show up.
That is what makes this community so meaningful.
It isn't about one person building an organization. It is about creating something that belongs to the community and continues to grow because people believe in it.
A New Chapter for Cape Women in Business
Receiving 501(c)(3) status marks an exciting new chapter for CWB.
The designation creates new opportunities for the organization to expand programming, develop strategic partnerships, and increase access to educational, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for women throughout the region.
But while the nonprofit designation is an important milestone, it is really a foundation for what comes next.
CWB has a lot of ideas for the future, and we are excited to continue listening to the women in our community, identifying what they need, and building opportunities that help them connect, learn, and grow.
Why Conversations Like This Matter
Local media conversations give organizations like CWB an opportunity to tell a bigger story.
There are countless women across Cape Cod who are building businesses, leading teams, changing careers, starting something new, or figuring out what their next chapter looks like.
Sometimes what they need most isn't another business card or another sales pitch.
It is a connection.
It is someone who understands.
It is a resource, an introduction, a little encouragement, or simply a room where they feel comfortable being themselves.
That is the kind of community Cape Women in Business is working to build.
